Welcome to ESSCA CeRESS !

Social Economy and Social Business are the two main topics covered by ESSCA Centre for expertise and Research in Social and Solidarity-Based Economics (ESSCA CeRESS). Through a series of in-depth research and consulting programs, CeRESS aims at helping organizations and governments to make decisions based on a wide array of models and methods.

ESSCA CeRESS team’s work challenges the common thought in many disciplines: political science, management, socioeconomics, economics of development, economics of sustainable development and environment, history of social economy and law. It covers various topics ranging from fair-trade, north-south and north-north relationships, models of microfinance, social finance in the EU, social entrepreneurship and social and sustainable development. It is assumed that market-based economy and public-economy can learn from one another and that general interest is not opposed to efficiency.

The research conducted within ESSCA CeRESS relies on various partnerships with local, national and european institutions. It contributes to a better understanding of what one can name a « plural » economy.
