UACES CRN ‘The Governance of Sustainability: Multiple Dimensions, Multiple Approaches’

This international academic network was one of the first of its kind to be set up following the first call for proposals by UACES for the establishment of “Collaborative Research Networks”, meant to stimulate the emergence of inclusive groups of scholars across European institutions.

The objective of the network, co-organised and coordinated by Jenny Fairbrass (Bradford School of Management), Simon Lightfoot (University of Leeds) and Thomas Hoerber (ESSCA School of Management) was to explore the tensions and ambiguities surrounding sustainability using a cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary approach. Its main research themes are environmental conscience, discourses of sustainability, energy and environment.

Since its inception in 2009 the CRN has organised three four successful annual workshops in Bradford, Leeds, Angers and Cambridge respectively. It has also convened a series of panels at each of the recent UACES Annual and Research Conferences in Angers, Bruges and Cambridge and will also be present at the 2012 conference in Passau. As a result of these activities, several publications are currently being prepared, among which a special journal issue and an edited volume.
