Budapest Language and Business Programme

In the Spring semester of 2009, ESSCA introduced a new programme entitled the Budapest Language and Business Programme.

Focusing on the development of English language skills and competence in the international business environment, as well as introducing participants to Hungary and the region from a business and cultural perspective, the BLBP seeks to provide a unique atmosphere in which students will be acclimatised to work effectively within an English-speaking context.

Attracting undergraduate students from ESSCA’s worldwide exchange partners, its general aim is to provide a specialised programme to prepare students, through practical skill enhancement, for participation in the global economy.

The programme covers the following:

Practical English-language skills for Business (report writing, presentations,

      negotiations,  together with market studies)

Business and culture in Hungary and the Central European region (Doing

business in Central Europe, Introduction to Hungarian language and culture)

European Union studies (History, institutions, law and trade both in the EU and

      beyond)

Business subjects (International Marketing, Management, Accounting)

The overall volume of the BLBP represents 272 contact hours (38 ECTS credits) for non-native English speakers and 212 contact hours (30 ECTS credits) for native English speakers.

In view of the agreement between ESSCA and Sophia University, Tokyo, a specialised exchange programme for Japanese students has been designed within the BLBP framework.
