The new ESSCA Class of 2009 consisted of 426 new students for both the Angers and Paris sites, of whom 85% graduated with honours from their secondary school.

October 2009
On October 2, the Centennial Ceremony that took place at the Congress Centre in Angers filled the room. André Comte-Sponville gave an exceptional lecture entitled "The Meaning of Work, Happiness and Motivation: Management Philosophy". The post-lecture cocktail reception highlighted the talent of our graduates: the sculptor, Rémy Tassou, and painter, Ludovic Thiriez, presented their works, while Saïté Chen played a ballade by Chopin on the piano.
On October 3, the Paul Baugas building was inaugurated in the presence of public officials representing the project's co-financiers: the Region, the Department and Angers Loire Métropole.
Loïc Linard, Benjamin Sierra and Johan Benichou (Class of 2004-2009), members of the Finance Tout Terrain association, left on their biking trip around the world to meet micro-finance leaders.

The ESSCA/Bodet human resources "barometer" survey results for 2009 on the topic of "What Kind of HR Director are you?" were released.
After the Class of 1959-1962 reunion in September, the Classes of 1969 and 1984 had theirs in Angers.
November 2009
The lipdub, realised by five Master 2 students, created a real stir on the web. We're still talking about it today!
The City Hall of Angers and BDE signed the charter for student evening event organisers in Angers.
December 2009
The 58th Mercuriale invited students and employees to enjoy the Venice Carnival in Angers. An immense success.
Following the PUC Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, ESSCA signed a partnership with a second Brazilian university in December: Sao Paulo's FAAP (Fundaçao Armando Alvares Penteado).
André Leplain, professor and Head of the Finance Department since 1992, retired from the school. His farewell reception was attended by many colleagues and friends.
ESSCA and ESAIP (Ecole Supérieure Angevine d'Informatique et de Productique) signed a cooperation agreement for the development of a Masters programme in "Management and Decision Engineering".
The Chair in Social and Solidarity-Based Economics organised an evening debate on the topic of "Management and Militancy: any Convergence?".

The "Georges" list succeeds the "Kit&klat" list to take over management of the BDE.
Open House in Angers and Paris
Launch of the ESSCASTORIES campaign for online testimonials from graduates. The new banner adopted by the School reiterates its positioning "Straight from a Grande Ecole".
ESSCA welcomed the Order of Chartered Accountants' management tournament for the Pays de Loire region in Angers.
The AACSB file submitted by the School is declared eligible, opening the door to international accreditation.
ESSCA's Junior-Entreprises organised a meeting with Jacques Attali to discuss a year of crisis.
The Plumes d'Or and Démosthène 2010 contest, organised in collaboration with ESA and ESEO, rewarded eight ESSCA students.
February 2010
The results of the ESSCASCOPIE barometer survey, launched in 2009 to measure the satisfaction of ESSCA's graduates, were particularly positive: 91% of graduates are happy in their current job, while 96% would recommend the School.

The philosopher André Comte Sponville, whose lecture at the Centennial Ceremony had a major impact on attendees, returned for two conferences on two topics in Angers and Paris; "Globalisation and Civilisation: what Values for the 21st Century?" and "Is Capitalism Moral?".
In Angers, ESSCA welcomed participants to the Eighth International Conference for Young Scholars, "WISH", organised by the European Integration Chair.
March 2010
The "Associations" bursary awarded by CAPESSCA, honoured four projects: the BDS Hotrush, the Den Miseni humanitarian association, the Didascalies, Syncope and Assoc' aux Pom cultural associations, and Jumping ESSCA, the organiser of the competition by the same name.

- Michel Lander, CEO of Sodexo, presided over the graduation ceremony at the Congress Centre of Angers. On the same day, his company and ESSCA signed a partnership agreement.
Christophe Léonard (Class of 2003-2008) was the grand winner of the 2010 "Entreprendre" Bursary. His corporate project "Les Clefs du Vin" ("the Keys to Wine") (sale and marketing of wine selections) drew the attention of the jury composed of members of Capessca, the Alumni Network, ESSCA and the Class patron, Michel Landel.
In Angers, Guy-Christopher Coppel of NASA Johnson Space Centre, invited us to travel through the stars. The topic of his lecture: "The Human Adventure in Space: from a Conquest to a Quest?".
After having hosted the corporate game, NUCARS, in Angers in 2009, ESSCA sent a team of students to Northwood University in the United States. Guillaume Hamelin, an ESSCA student, was a member of the winning team composed of French, American, Danish and German students.
In the context of the AEBS programme, students took a study trip to the D-Day beaches in Normandy.
April 2010
The Chair in Distribution and Autombile Services organised a lecture on the topic of "Environmental Challenges and Automobile Consumption: Europeans and Clean Driving".
The 2010 "Conférence des Grandes Ecoles" survey on ESSCA graduates' first jobs confirms the high level of integration of our graduates, with 59% signing an employment agreement prior to the end of their studies.
ESSCA's webmarketing specialisation launched its dedicated internet site: a key tool to promote a growing sector.
Signature of three agreements with Hiroshima University of Economics (Japan), Centre for European Studies, Fudan University (China), and Universidad Camilo José Cela (Spain). ESSCA now has 102 university partners in 40 countries.

. Two third year students win the "Les Entrepreneuriales" Challenge for the Pays de la Loire region. This award is attributed to a project related to the creation of an innovative company.
For the fourth consecutive year, students in their last year of secondary studies (with a scientific and economic focus) attended ESSCA for a "day of discovery of higher education").
May-June 2010
With a total of 5,960 applicants (including 210 international applicants), ESSCA broke a new record for first year entrance exam registrations.
Annick Horreau-Nicolas retired after a number of assignments in the School supporting the Programme and Exam Departments, and as Head of Exams and Student Support Services ("Cellule d'Ecoute").
For his essay entitled: "How to Reconcile Ethics and Sustainable Development in Businesses?" Olivier Lesboueyries, a first year student, received from Rotary International and CGE:
In Angers, at the CCI of Maine-&-Loire, the first prize in the regional competition for the Pays de la Loire region,
In Paris, at UNESCO, the national diploma.
The Jumping ESSCA association and the School presented the second edition of Jumping ESSCA (national obstacle course competition) over three days at the Lion d'Angers.
ESSCA, a first time participant in the L'Express Grandes Ecoles Challenges, won the special jury prize. Twelve schools represented by 10 students were to create and commercialise a regional supplement composed of 20 pages.
A key event in the news school will obviously be the inauguration of the new ESSCA site at Boulogne-Billancourt. This 4,000 m² building will provide employees and students with an exceptional setting for their work and will give the School a new impetus. Student associations will benefit from a new student area and facilities reserved for their purposes. The official inauguration is planned for September 20, 2010.
The launch of the Webmarketing Master programme will also mark the new year in Boulogne-Billancourt. Successfully launched in Angers in 2009, this programme, which fulfils new needs in the corporate world, should attract many applications thanks to its twofold "web" and "management" focus. In 2011, other specialisations will be offered, such as "Corporate Finance", taught exclusively in English.
